The Queensland Government has made a commitment to provide the community with greater access to information held by Government, unless on balance it is contrary to the public interest to provide that information.
It achieves this by voluntary publication of information and through the Right to Information Act 2009 (new window).
The RTI reforms generally aim to make more information available, provide equal access to information across all sectors of the community, and provide appropriate protection for individuals' privacy.
For more information about RTI, refer to the Right to Information section (new window) of the Queensland Government website or the Information Privacy Act 2009 (new window) - Queensland Legislation website.
