Corridor expansion rail study gets green light
27 August 2004

A study will investigate whether the Citytrain network can be extended into the booming urban growth corridor south west of Brisbane.
Transport Minister Paul Lucas told a parliamentary estimates committee that the Government would fund a $500,000 study into the interstate rail line between Acacia Ridge and the New South Wales border.
Currently the line, which runs west of Beaudesert, carries only interstate rail traffic between the border and Acacia Ridge. The study will investigate whether it is feasible to upgrade the line into dual gauge tracks so it could carry future Citytrain services.
