QR Text Messaging Service
0428 774 636 SMS assistance for people with disabilities
QR has introduced an SMS text messaging service for people with a disability. It was identified that the existing communication options were unsuitable for some people due to the nature of their disability, especially people who are deaf or hearing impaired. Text messaging may help to bridge the gap.
An sms message can be sent to a Passenger Service Officer (PSO) 24 hours a day seven days per week. It can be used to make Citytrain enquiries or in an emergency situation. It could be used before, during or after a train journey. For example if a person detrained at an unmanned unfamiliar station and wanted to know when the next train to the city would depart and from what platform they could send an sms.
A Passenger Service Officer is alerted that a text message has arrived by a loud beeping. They will then respond promptly to the message. The message needs to contain as much detail as possible to enable the PSO to respond effectively.
This service is intended for people with a disability. For other ways to contact us please see contact us.
