The Project
Stage 3 project upgrade Temporary closure of Indooroopilly station subway Due to the ongoing construction and upgrade of Indooroopilly station, the subway which provides access to Platforms 1 and 2 will be closed for refurbishment from 1 September 2008 for a period of up to eight (8) weeks. Once complete, the refurbished subway will feature new flooring, drainage, tiling, ceiling and improved lighting to provide easier access and increased passenger safety at the station. During the subway closure period, access to the station platforms and ticketing booth will be made available via the newly constructed concourse on Westminster Avenue. In addition, Lambert Road will be accessible only to local traffic including customers and patrons visiting local businesses. The current drop off zone in Lambert Road for vehicles unloading passengers will become a no access area during the subway closure. An alternative drop off zone has been provided for passengers in Westminster Avenue. The Indooroopilly station upgrade is an integral part of the Brisbane suburban rail network, and QR appreciates passengers continued and cooperation. Preliminary construction began in July 2007. Major works will commence in November 2007 and the upgraded station is expected to be fully operational by December 2008. QR Citytrain is working with TransLink to ensure the local community and businesses are informed of the project status and any impacts are kept to a minimum. Indooroopilly Station is an integral part of the rail network, and the Queensland Government, through QR Citytrain and TransLink, is working to build a modern commuter facility for the community and a better transport system for South East Queensland. Indooroopilly station upgrade project Stage 3 to commence Monday 26 May 2008 From Monday 26 May 2008, Platforms 1 and 2 at Indooroopilly station will reopen for business. Passengers are advised that all train services will depart Platforms 1 and 2 effective from this date (Monday 26 May 2008). At the same time, Platforms 3 and 4 will be closed to enable the construction works to continue safely for the duration of the project. Work will begin on platforms 3 and 4, and will continue on the new concourse level adjacent to the Westminster Road bridge. The Indooroopilly upgrade project is focussed on improving accessibility and safety for passengers. When the concourse opens in August, passengers will be able to access the platforms via the subway and stair. The new concourse level will be accessible via Railway Avenue and a ramp will be provided to enable customer to reach the concourse level from Coonan Street. Passengers at Milton, Auchenflower, Taringa, Toowong, Graceville and Sherwood stations should also note all trains will depart from platforms 1 and 2 at these locations also QR and TransLink are appreciative of your patience as we work together to build a better rail network.
